Steven has spent around two decades in software and systems — building, running and consulting on the platforms businesses depend on day to day, with deep time in warehouse and WMS operations and hands-on work across electronics and enterprise infrastructure. That range is not a claim to do everything; it is why the four service lines connect, and why the same engineering judgement carries across them.
The through-line is a preference for engineering the systems clients already own, rather than selling them a new one. It is more useful, more honest, and — done well — more valuable.

Is 1722 just one person?
It is a boutique practice led by Steven Sharp, and that is deliberate. You work directly with the engineer making the decisions, not an account manager and a rotating team. Where a piece of work needs a specialist collaborator, that is arranged openly and scoped in — never hidden behind vague talk of a team.
Why should I trust a firm incorporated in 2026?
The company is new; the engineer is not. Credibility here rests on around twenty years of genuine hands-on experience, a legible method, and the deliverables you keep — not on a fabricated client wall. We would rather show you exactly how we work than claim a history we don’t have.
Do you work with US companies from Scotland?
Yes. The priority market is US 3PL and warehouse operators. Most engineering is done remotely, with time on-site for discovery, commissioning and go-live where it matters. Being independent and senior travels well.
